Leadership Positions
Requirements and expectations for serving in a leadership role
Troop 30 has defined specific minimum requirements for each leadership role that qualifies for rank advancement. Holding a position is not enough on its own — scouts must actively fulfill the responsibilities of their role. See the Troop 30 Leadership Requirements for the full details.
Earning Leadership Credit
To receive leadership credit for a term, scouts must:
- •Complete all minimum requirements for their specific position
- •Fill out the Troop 30 Leadership Position Tracking document at the end of their term
Scouts who do not meet the minimum requirements for their position and fill out their tracking document will not receive leadership credit for that term.
Required Activities
Troop 30 requires all members of the TLT to participate in certain activities:
- •Service events — required for all TLT members
- •PLC meetings — required for all members of the Patrol Leaders Council (SPL, ASPLs, Patrol Leaders, Troop Instructor, Scribe)
Scouts who are unable to attend a required event due to illness or a valid conflict (family, school, church, sports, or club events) may be excused. Submit the Excused Absence Form in advance.
Leadership Terms
Most leadership positions are served in six-month terms:
- •Fall term: October through April
- •Spring term: April through October
Elections for SPL and Patrol Leaders are held at the start of each term. Other positions are appointed by the SPL with guidance from the Scoutmaster.
